Evidence & current status
The July 2026 Senate report distinguishes French procurement redirection from formal withdrawal. Neither the revised French planning nor the 2025 design review establishes cancellation of the multinational programme or an operational aircraft.
Role & programme
A European medium-altitude, long-endurance programme led by Airbus with Dassault Aviation and Leonardo. Its significance includes industrial cooperation and sovereign mission-system integration.
OCCAR’s October 2025 critical-design-review milestone establishes development progress. Airbus advertises a 2.3-tonne mission payload and up to 40 hours of endurance; those are design claims, not evidence of a fielded aircraft. Four participating nations and industrial workshare do not imply identical future customer configurations.
French procurement review
France's procurement plans changed materially in 2026. The Senate's 7 July report states that France had not formally withdrawn from Eurodrone at that date, but that revised military planning had redirected the requirement toward cheaper sovereign theatre drones and removed the earlier French delivery targets for 2030 and 2035. This is not evidence that the multinational programme has been cancelled.
