Evidence & current status
Historical research and operator evidence support the early system. Current fleet strength and retirement are not established.
PD-100 identifies an early Black Hornet personal reconnaissance system from Prox Dynamics. A US Army research account describes a sixteen-gram aircraft with a roughly twenty-minute flight duration, while subsequent Army material documents PD-100 equipment in a training context. These sources establish more than a theoretical design.
The name can refer to the complete system as well as its air vehicle. This profile therefore labels the small-aircraft figures explicitly and does not treat them as the mass or endurance of every product ever marketed under the broader Black Hornet name. The third and fourth generations have their own profiles and technical baselines.
Historical operator evidence is not a current inventory. The cited material does not establish how many early systems remain in service, their battery condition or the final retirement schedule. Keeping the legacy entry makes procurement history searchable without suggesting that later deliveries necessarily used the original aircraft.
