Evidence & current status
Developer-reported flight count is undated on the product page. No current service acceptance was established.
Panchi is DRDO's runway-operated derivative of the Nishant reconnaissance aircraft. The developer describes a wheeled configuration with conventional take-off and landing, a composite airframe, a rotary engine and electro-optical observation equipment. Its relationship to Nishant is explicit, but the change in launch and recovery is substantial enough to warrant a separate configuration record.
DRDO's public product entry reports five successful flights. The page does not give a complete dated sequence or demonstrate that the aircraft subsequently became an accepted production system. Accordingly, this catalogue treats Panchi as a tested development rather than an operational fleet. The spelling Panchhi also appears in programme material and refers to the same derivative.
Technical descriptions of an engine being delivered for development must not be mistaken for aircraft delivery to a military unit. Nor should engine mass be presented as aircraft mass. A verified current performance sheet and an operator acceptance statement are still needed before adding precise payload, endurance or inventory figures to this entry.
