Evidence & current status

Delivery of a flight-tested experimental aircraft is documented. A production designation or operational fleet is not established.

SUBARU delivered an experimental unmanned aircraft to Japan's Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Agency on 9 July 2025. The company states that it designed, manufactured and flight-tested the aircraft before delivery. The research concerns collaboration between unmanned and piloted aircraft, including control by a pilot and autonomous formation-related functions.

This is a technology-development programme with a physical test aircraft. It is not evidence that Japan has accepted a production loyal-wingman fleet, and the public release does not provide a formal production model designation. The descriptive title in this catalogue therefore identifies the manufacturer, customer and research role without inventing a service name.

The announced next step was further testing by ATLA with SUBARU support. Performance data such as endurance, payload and operating altitude were not established in the reviewed announcement, so specifications from unrelated Japanese concepts are not substituted. The project belongs in the global collaborative-aircraft sector because of its demonstrated programme activity, while its status and data limits remain distinct from operational reconnaissance UAVs.
