Evidence & current status

Prototype testing is documented. The latest reviewed government assessment is from 2024; current variant and operational acceptance need a newer primary update.

Teng Yun, translated as Cloud Rider, is an indigenous NCSIST unmanned-aircraft development programme. Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense published an NCSIST statement in February 2021 confirming activity by an early prototype and continued research following an accident. A US government commission's 2024 Taiwan assessment also described Teng Yun as still undergoing testing.

These sources establish a real development effort, rather than a name attached only to a rendering. They do not supply a complete current technical specification or prove that a production-standard aircraft has been accepted by a military customer. The older prototype described in the 2021 statement should not automatically be treated as identical to later aircraft discussed under the same family name.

This profile therefore separates programme identity, documented testing and current service status. It deliberately avoids importing the dimensions or performance of another visually similar MALE aircraft. The key next evidence is a dated customer or developer account of the current variant, its demonstrated performance and any acceptance decision. Until then, numerical gaps remain visible rather than filled by inference.
