PackBot 525 is a transportable tracked robot in Teledyne FLIR's long-running PackBot family. Its primary defence roles include bomb disposal, close inspection and reconnaissance, while optional sensors support hazardous-material and chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear tasks. Those specialised sensing packages are not standard on every vehicle.
The 525 update adds higher-definition cameras, improved accessory connections and a laser range finder, with optional charging while batteries remain installed. Its manipulator handling capability is different from the total weight of the robot and should not be interpreted as a general cargo-transport rating. The platform is intended to travel to an incident in another vehicle and then be controlled remotely.
A June 2022 Teledyne announcement described deliveries of 127 PackBot 525 robots to Germany, with final shipments then still scheduled. That provides specific procurement and delivery evidence without asserting an independently checked completion date for the entire batch. Earlier PackBot deployments establish family experience, but older variants should not be assigned every new 525 feature. Customer radio, manipulator and sensor fits remain important when comparing individual systems.
