Evidence & current status
Civil and military uses coexist. Demonstration participation does not establish national fleet ownership; endurance and payload power are supplier figures.
Voyager occupies the middle of Saildrone's established vessel range, carrying surveillance and survey equipment in a ten-metre hull. The current product description specifies electric propulsion assisted by a rigid wing. This makes it distinct from the larger diesel-powered Surveyor and from the smaller Explorer; figures and equipment from those platforms should not be combined.
Its defence relevance comes from persistent collection of maritime information and seafloor data. The US Navy records Voyager activity during Operation Windward Stack in 2023. Saildrone subsequently reported that four Voyagers participated in NATO's Baltic demonstration in June 2025, operating in the Gulf of Finland and western Baltic.
The vessel remains supervised through a wider operations and communications service, even though nobody needs to be aboard. Published endurance refers to the interval between service stops under suitable mission conditions. Mapping speed, electrical payload allowance and the installed sensor package describe different aspects of capability; none alone establishes performance for every customer configuration.
