UAE defence group EDGE reported on 21 October that it supported a UAE Navy demonstration of autonomous maritime systems with US Navy participation. According to EDGE, uncrewed surface vessels carried out reconnaissance and protection scenarios while command software, sensors and aerial systems contributed to a common operating picture. The announcement describes a demonstration, not a fleet-wide operational deployment or an allied procurement award.
Systems shown
EDGE identifies TACTICA AI's Naval Warfare C2 Centre for Autonomous Systems, the HADAF targeting system and a Maritime Autonomy Kit developed by the Technology Innovation Institute as components of the integration. The assets it lists include the 17-metre 170 M-DETECTOR uncrewed vessel, VORTEX-E counter-drone interceptor, SKYSHIELD-N naval counter-UAS system, navigation protection equipment, an electro-optical imager and radars. Listing a system as deployed at the event does not establish that each component operated in every scenario or that each has been accepted for naval service.
Evidence still needed
EDGE says its command layer enabled a shared operating picture across partners. It does not publish the exercise date, number of vessels or sorties, measured data-exchange performance, counter-drone engagement results or formal US Navy assessment. Those details would distinguish successful integration from a supplier-described showcase. The site's surface-vessel and maritime-autonomy guides provide context for comparing platform autonomy with command-and-control integration.
