STM reports NETA 300 mine-detection mission at TURNAs-2026

STM says its NETA 300 autonomous underwater vehicle detected and identified mine and mine-like objects on an exercise transit route. The company has reported a Turkish Navy sales contract, but the exercise account does not establish fleet acceptance or mine neutralisation.

STM reported on 25 October that its NETA 300 light autonomous underwater vehicle took part in an advance-force operation during Türkiye's TURNAs-2026 unmanned maritime systems exercise. The company says the vehicle used onboard sonar and other sensors to detect and identify mines and mine-like objects along a transit route, helping the main naval force assess navigation safety. This is a supplier account of an exercise mission; no independent scoring report was provided.

What was demonstrated

The reported task combined autonomous underwater survey with the detection and identification stages of a mine-countermeasures operation. STM did not publish the number of objects, false-alarm rate, water depth, survey area, navigation error, mission duration or environmental conditions. It did not say NETA 300 neutralised a mine. The exercise therefore supports a narrower conclusion than full, operational mine-clearance capability.

Programme status

STM's existing product information describes a modular, two-person portable AUV with optional sensor configurations. It has previously announced a first domestic sales contract and says the Turkish Navy will use NETA 300. A contract and a successful exercise sortie are separate milestones; this release does not identify a delivery, service acceptance date or routine deployment. The existing NETA 300 profile and underwater-systems guide place the event in the wider mine-countermeasures landscape. Further evidence should cover repeatable detection performance, human review of classifications and an accepted naval configuration.
