Danish radar maker Weibel announced on 27 October that its XENTA-M5 was selected for Poland's SAN integrated counter-UAS programme under an €84 million contract with Polish defence-electronics company PIT-RADWAR. This is a supplier-reported order for radar capability, not evidence that the entire SAN system is already deployed. The release does not give radar quantities, a delivery schedule or a Polish military acceptance date.
Where the radar fits
Weibel describes SAN as an architecture combining sensors, command and control and effectors. XENTA-M5 belongs to the sensor layer: it is intended to detect, track and classify airborne threats, including small, low-flying drones, and send an air picture to the wider system. A radar selection does not itself demonstrate target defeat or the performance of the complete counter-drone chain.
What follows
The contract is Weibel's largest by value, according to the company. The next useful evidence would identify delivered radar numbers, installation sites or units, completed integration with SAN command systems, and assessed detection performance against representative targets. The site's counter-UAS and sensor-fusion guides explain how sensor evidence differs from end-to-end defensive effectiveness.
