Ukraine's Ministry of Defence reported on 29 October that automated turrets developed through the Brave1 defence-innovation effort are in service with the Ukrainian Air Force. It says the systems have destroyed more than 60 aerial targets as part of a private air-defence project, including dozens of unmanned aircraft over Kyiv in the past month. Those totals are ministry-reported; the public release does not provide a target-by-target record, reporting period for the cumulative figure, or a breakdown by turret model.
What the announcement establishes
The ministry identifies jet-powered Banderol munitions and Geran-5 drones among the threats engaged. It says Brave1 started developing automated turrets in 2024 and that the systems have moved beyond experimentation into Air Force use. That is a stronger service-status statement than a supplier demonstration. It does not independently establish interception rates, effectiveness against each target class, fleet quantity, or performance in other operating conditions.
The private air-defence initiative allows companies to help protect personnel, production sites and energy facilities. A ministry account from earlier in 2026 described a compact AI-assisted turret used by more than ten military units. The 29 October release does not clearly identify the current systems as that same model, so their unit counts and engagement claims should not be merged.
What to verify next
More precise evidence would identify the turret configurations, sensors and effectors used in the private air-defence project, confirmed operating units and sites, the dates and methods behind the 60-target total, and independent assessment of false alarms and failed engagements. For now, the public evidence supports an attributed ministry statement of service use and claimed combat results, not a measured system-wide effectiveness rate.
