Ukraine codifies Varkhan logistics ground robot for supply

Ukraine's defence ministry says the 4×4 Varkhan UGV passed trials and is approved for supply, with a stated loaded off-road range of up to 37 km. It has not disclosed deliveries or field acceptance.

Ukraine's Ministry of Defence announced on 5 October that it had codified the Varkhan unmanned ground vehicle and approved it for supply to the armed forces. The ministry describes a logistics platform intended to move weapons, ammunition and other equipment. Codification is a formal supply-enabling milestone. The announcement does not say that a unit has received a Varkhan, how many vehicles have been ordered or whether the system is in repeated operational use.

According to the ministry, Varkhan has a 4×4 all-wheel-drive chassis, dependent suspension, more than 200 mm of ground clearance and quick-swap batteries. It says the vehicle can carry hundreds of kilograms and has a loaded off-road range of up to 37 km. The published wording gives no exact payload limit, test load, terrain profile, speed, battery endurance or independent trial measurements. Those missing conditions matter: a range figure for a loaded ground robot is only comparable with another system if the load, route and operating conditions are known.

Control and programme context

The ministry says Varkhan has several communication and control options and can be used with T-Bone ground-control stations, antennas, masts and repeaters. This suggests a wider control ecosystem, but the announcement gives no measured link range or evidence of how the system performed under jamming. It attributes the design to an unnamed Ukrainian defence company responding to troops' logistics needs and says trials confirmed the platform's specifications.

The next programme evidence would be a documented production order, delivery to a named formation, or service reporting on sustained logistics use. Varkhan should therefore be recorded as approved for supply, not as a quantified fielded fleet. It adds a named land-system milestone to recent Ukrainian reports of amphibious UGV use and expanding ground-robot activity, while remaining a separate platform.
