Baykar reported on 22 September that a Bayraktar TB3 operating from TCG Anadolu released two sonobuoys using its SAS POD during the Seawolf-I/2026 exercise in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The manufacturer says the aircraft worked with a maritime patrol aircraft and processed data from sonobuoys released by both platforms, displaying the resulting underwater information during the exercise.
What the test establishes
The announcement describes a supplier-reported exercise demonstration of payload and data integration. It does not provide independent performance measurements or establish fleet-wide acceptance of the configuration. It should not be read as confirmation of an operational submarine-detection result.
The event connects carrier-capable uncrewed aviation with maritime sensing. Its significance is the reported integration test; a wider capability assessment would require evidence about the configured system, repeatability and operator acceptance.
